It’s an obvious selection but New Zealand look likely to make you money at the 2015 Rugby World Cup
Since the first World Cup in 1987, New Zealand have been installed as the bookmaker favourite on every occasion.
The All Blacks have supposedly been the team to beat each time, although only two victories have come and they both took place on home soil.
Therefore, there could be some reluctance about getting with Steve Hansen’s men in England over the next few weeks, although we’re happy to lump on the 6/4 with William Hill that there is a happy ending for the Kiwis.
If this tournament was played ten times, surely New Zealand would win on five or more occasions given that they have the best squad of players and best set of recent results coming into the tournament.
The draw has also been kind to the All Blacks who could face Ireland or France at the quarter final stage, before a likely semi against England, Australia or South Africa.
England supporters are full of hope that Stuart Lancaster’s team can produce some magic, especially as they play their matches at Twickenham.
However, there’s a nagging feeling that this English team isn’t the finished article. The fact that they have been thrust into the same group as Australia and Wales is far from ideal and it means not winning the section could have problematic consequences.
South Africa might be the biggest danger to the All Blacks, with the Springboks looking to recover from surprise summer defeats and they have a tough pack who should help them come through the group unscathed.
However, we can’t ignore the mighty New Zealand when it comes to the winner of the tournament.
