Australian Open men’s singles betting tips

Quite remarkably, seven of the eight top seeds in the men’s singles have made it to the quarter final stage of the competition.

Just Roger Federer has fallen by the wayside, with Novak Djokovic having reached the last eight with the minimum of fuss. The Serbian hasn’t dropped a set and is strong favourite to beat Milos Raonic.

Bet365 go 8/11 that Djokovic continues his recent dominance of the Australian Open by winning this tournament although his big-serving Canadian opponent is reigning US Open champion and capable of taking a set.

Andy Murray is now second favourite to win the tournament and what would be his third Grand Slam. The Brit has a US Open and a Wimbledon title under his belt and has reached three Melbourne finals previously.

William Hill offer 9/2 about Murray claiming an overall victory and he could face Rafael Nadal in the semi-final, with the Spaniard having survived a couple of scares to get to the business end of the competition.

Betfair go 7/1 that Nadal goes all the way, with Tomas Berdych standing between him and a place in the last four.

The most competitive of the four quarter finals could be the match between reigning champion Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori.

The bookies are struggling to separate the two players and it’s clear the Japanese has vastly improved after reaching the 2014 US Open and could well find himself duking it out with Djokovic for a place in the final.
